When I got back from Florida Ben was feeling a little down and decided he wanted a spring break of his own. Some of his ideas were going to Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., but we decided to keep in more local and check out some cool historical places around Ithaca.
Our first stop was Harriet Tubman's home, in Auburn, NY.
Notice there was still snow everywhere and we had to wear our warmest jackets as it was in the low 30's in late March.

Here is the home that Harriet helped build that is currently under renovation, soon to be able to go inside.
We were able to go inside the home she created for "old people" as she worked there and later herself was taken care of here as well.
Our next stop was the William Seward House... also in Auburn. Seward was Lincoln's Secretary of State and loyal friend. He lived in this house along with his relatives, and it has so much history and so many cool artifacts inside. If you ever come visit us I'm sure Ben will want to take you there as he loved it! Seward had thousands of first editions books, many signed by the author. They were/are filthy rich and have some awesome stories/treasures.
Too bad someone took pictures of inside the house and sold them...not allowing us to take any now.
Our final stop was the Women's Rights National History Park/ visitors center... in Seneca Falls, NY. This is where the first talk and convention for women's rights was held. There were some cool exhibit, fun photo ops, and a historical movie.
Apparently Ben wants to follow in his dad's footsteps and become a political figure... maybe even the president?!
Overall we had a very fun filled day. I felt well educated afterward and we even hit up the outlets before heading home. Thanks for being so cool and full of history New York!
