Lucy- 6 weeks

We made it to six weeks and we are not looking back...

Except for the fact that our sweet Lucy is getting big FAST and I'm sad we already grew out of newborn diapers and a few newborn clothes!

 I had to document our Superbowl "party".  Ben wanted lots of good food, so we went all out for ourselves and Michael/Annika.

Luckily it was nice enough weather for Lucy's first stroller walk in early February!  I'm now in the double-stroller mom club. 

William is getting better with Lucy (I think).  He was never "bad" but just a little rough.  He lights up whenever he sees her and thinks she is fun.  He loves holding her hand and moving her arm for the "Wheels on the Bus" song.  He says "She's doing her eyes" whenever she is very alert and awake and is always interested in where she is and what she's doing.  I'm so excited for these two siblings now and in the future.  

My grandparents came down from Salt Lake to meet Lucy on Valentine's Day.  I think everyone was full of love that day and happy to meet each other.  It was special having her meet another set of her great-grandparents.  We are very lucky to have two so close. 

Lucy has always been good at pulling faces since birth.  She has very expressive eyebrows and a wrinkly forehead.  Her widows peak is very obvious and her hair has stayed pretty much the same.  

This is often my view throughout the day.  William either waking up, checking on, or patting Lucy in bed.  We are in the process of moving William from his crib to his big boy room and bed.  Lucy sleeps in a pack-and-play in our room and the living room.

Ben and I went to a fancy dinner while Ben's mom was in town.  We got dressed up and acted like I didn't have a four week old baby at home that I was thinking about.  

Just Ben, William and I went to a BYU volleyball game one night while grandma babysat again.  It felt so weird just the three of us but was fun giving Will some extra attention and singing the fight song together (his favorite!?!)

I am in denial that I don't have any more grammy/grandma's coming to help take care of the kids.  

It would be nice having them on-call any time but we were very glad to have their help when we did! 

Last weekend Lucy went out on the town, basically for her grand debut. We were planning on just going to the BYU tennis match but ended up going to gymnastics as well.  Lucy wanted to check it out and she was very well behaved :)

Lucy's double chin has been getting better everyday.  She weighs about 11 pounds at 6 weeks and is growing like a weed.  She's still eating every 3 hours which helps her bulk it up.  At night she usually wakes up twice around 2 and 5 a.m.  She LOVES dad and usually calms/quiets down when he holds her.  This is not always the case for me, but its fun to see her stare at Ben.  

My latest endeavor is planning outings around Lucy's nap time.  I'm trying to have her be awake for an hour or so before heading out with Lucy so I don't have to get her out in public just yet.  We have gone to the park, a couple restaurants, BYU tennis/gymnastics and now baseball game while she's sleeping in her car seat.  Luckily she likes it in there and doesn't complain.  It's nice getting out a little more and leaving the house (maybe) once a day.

We are still adjusting to our family of four, but are excited for the new change and changing of the seasons!  

Lucy Rae Lewis

I feel like I am already forgetting Lucy at her "newborn" stage.  I added these pictures to the blog a few weeks ago and now she looks like a completely different baby!  

Lucy has been such an angel.  I could not have asked for a more wonderful baby that is happy, a good eater, and generally much easier than William was.  She hated her first few baths but sure looked cute so we had to document them. 

Ben's sister, Diana, took a few pictures of Lucy when she was about a week old.  I really planned it poorly with her just waking up starving and trying to squeeze in a few good pictures before feeding her.  Diana was very patient and even waited until after feeding and Lucy decided to stay awake the whole time which made it a little harder to get a good shot.  

My mom came in town for about ten days and was a huge help.  She helped keep William busy and get him out of the house.  It was nice not having a lot of doctor appointments for help with nursing and tongue ties (like William) so I could recover and spend one-on-one time with Lucy.  William was very interested in her, maybe even too much.  Whenever she cries he says "Oh no! Baby sister!" or "Oh! Lucy's crying!"  It was a sad day when my mom had to leave but luckily we had decent weather for about a week so we could go outside and walk to the park to get some change of scenery (a big deal for me at the start).  It has been a lot different this time with it being winter, flu season, and lots of RSV going around.  The doctor highly recommended keeping Lucy away from everyone and staying at home.  It has been hard for me and William to be at home all the time and not out and about our normal errands.  He is full of energy and go, go, go all the time so it's hard to stay busy inside ALL day. But we sure are happy to have our addition to the family and can't imagine life without her now!
