Summer Trips 2013
Ben has been working hard on finishing his dissertation "dissertating."
After we returned from house hunting unsuccessful, Ben wanted me to go back and look again. In addition, we had two family reunions happening out West in the month of June. So, William and I flew from Ithaca to Salt Lake and purposely left an 8 hour layover window before we flew to California. (Ben's family reunion was first on the calendar at Disneyland in California) During our "layover" we looked at three houses. The first house we looked at was one I had been excited to see for two weeks. It went for sale on ksl.com a few weeks earlier and luckily hadn't been sold before I flew in. I looked at the other houses and then went back to the airport to complete our long journey across the country.
I spoke with Ben about my findings and decided we wanted to make an offer on the first home. This time we were lucky enough to have it accepted! I heard the news while at Disneyland with Ben's extended family, without him.
We are thrilled about our new home, located in Provo, Utah. It is less than two miles from Ben's office at BYU and in a great neighborhood with good schools.
William and I had a great week at Disneyland with the Lewis'. I didn't think he would do well, but he ended up enjoying it. Will was a trooper and even went on a few rides: Dumbo, Peter Pan, Casey Junior, Jungle Cruise, Storybook Boats, and more. He also did a lot of sleeping in his stroller, luckily. It was fun to see his seven Lewis family cousins for the first time.
After a week at Disneyland, my mom picked us up and we headed to Dana Point. My family got together for a week at Strands Beach. We had tons of fun sunbathing and enjoying the sound of the waves. We did some shopping, eating, gaming and a lot of relaxing. I even got to stop by my friend's wedding that same weekend!
After spending two weeks in California, we drove back to Utah with two babies, a toddler, and three moms. It was an adventure to say the least. My plan was to spend a week in Utah and look for houses (just in case I didn't find one in my 8 hour layover).
We had a lot of fun in Utah and were happy not to be looking for houses anymore ! Everyone in my family was in Utah for July 4th. We flew Ben in town at the last minute for a quick party with the whole family. William loved the fireworks. I was shocked! He laid down on the blanket next to Ben and just stared!
We had a blast this summer. We wish it would last forever :)
