As Lucy’s one-year-old birthday approaches I have had a lot
of different feelings come over me. Lucy
has truly been a joy in our lives. She
is the best baby anyone could ask for.
She only cries if she’s hungry or tired, and loves anyone she
meets. Her smile is contagious and her
babbles are so much fun. Lucy is
easy-going and calm, but fun spirited and playful. She makes a high pitched squeal at people
(or toys) she knows (her Sophie giraffe). Lucy has not yet said mama on purpose
but has said dada for a while now. She
likes to blow air in her cheeks to make “bubbles” and alternates sides, left
and right. Lucy’s hair is finally coming
in, in the back and on top, very curly!
She is still mostly bald on top but has a white spot on the crown of her
head since she was 4-5 months old. We
will see what happens when she gets hair to “cover” it. I could have sworn she was going to get her
second tooth months ago, but she has only had one since she turned 8 months!
(She finally got her tooth right after her 1st birthday)
I am lucky to be Lucy’s mom.
She is one very special girl. It
has been a hard transition to having two kids but Lucy helped to make it as
smooth as it could be. Sometimes I feel
like I’m not giving her enough attention because she isn’t as hands-on or
clingy as William. She is often content
playing with a string or sitting in one place for ten minutes. I am definitely taking advantage of her being more like "a baby" than William at this age. Lucy loves dad and mom pretty equally. She also loves William and he can make her laugh very easily. She is snugly and as William said the other day "She's so squishy everywhere, mom". Lucy is friendly with almost anyone. At the grocery store she looks around for people to smile at.
Lucy's one-year-old stats:
Weight: 19 lbs. 10 oz. (47%) Height: 29 1/4" (53%) Head: almost 18" (56%) Just our average sized girl! I was a little sad about her height, its the first time she's been under 75%, so we'll see what happens later on! But she's already bigger than William was at age 1.
Lucy enjoys almost any food. She loves bananas, berries, chicken, and now takes regular milk bottles before bed. She is still nursing a few time a day when she wakes up in the morning/naps, which is weird because William was done nursing at 10 months.
Lucy loves her music activity table and can now walk all the way around that on her own. She can't pull herself up or bring herself down safely quite yet. Lucy can take a few steps with me holding her hands and hold herself for 5 seconds without support. She reaches for the piano, to play it, whenever she sees it and seems to enjoy music just like her brother. Lucy goes down to bed very easily with her binky and takes 2 naps per day for 1-2 hours each. She has been sleeping through the night from 8pm-7am. She is our little angel and I can't imagine life without her!
