Our first two days in the hospital with Madeline (pronounced Made-LINE rhymes with FINE) were perfect. She was a great baby and learned how to eat quickly.
My mom flew in town early the next morning and she was the first visitor to meet Madeline. We hadn't announced her name yet, so she was the first to know. It was special and emotional because she is her namesake, Madeline Joan, after my mom.
Annika and Lydia brought my mom to the hospital so they got to visit as well.
Lucy and William came to meet Maddie in the afternoon. I won't ever forget the look on their faces.
Lucy walked right over and said "Maddie" and tried to give her a hug. It was so precious and priceless.
We got a few pictures with all of us and with my THREE kids!?
We came home on February 22nd, a very cold and snowy day. Before leaving the hospital we stopped downstairs in Maternal Fetal Medicine and visited with the doctor that performed Maddie's fetal blood transfusion. It was a tender moment having all three of us there, it was truly a miracle and I am so indebted to Dr. Donna Dizon-Townson.
Madeline was a tiny, sweetheart and she learned her days from nights right away. My mom stayed for almost a week to help with the transition. Maddie barely fit in her newborn clothes, as she was down to 5 pounds 14 ounces when we left the hospital. She barely fit in the lowest setting on the car seat.
