T-ball and Lucy scare

May 2017

You know when you have one of those days when you remember that God is looking out for you?  Today was one of those days.  This evening we were about to leave for William's baseball game.  Ben took William out front to practice and Lucy went in the garage to get some fresh air.  The main garage was closed but the third car garage was open.  Ben's car was outside in the driveway blocking the direct view into the garage.  I went back in the house to get William's baseball gear together and get Maddie ready.  I headed back into the garage to check on Lucy and heard wheels rolling and then crying.

Lucy had found her purple seated "wiggle car" and sat on it by herself and headed out the third car garage and down our STEEP driveway by herself.  She's not usually that interested in her wiggle car but apparently she was on Wednesday. Our third car garage driveway is less steep than our regular driveway.  Luckily we only had that side open as she was not going as extremely fast as she would regularly.  It was also lucky that Ben's car was in the way of the driveway as she had to point herself diagonally to go down the hill.  At the bottom of the diagonal is a strip of grass in front of our house, and not the street.  Ben thinks she hit the sidewalk after our steep driveway and then lost balance and fell.  Luckily she only had scrapes on her elbows and hand.  She was luckily wearing long pants but not a helmet.  It could have been a lot scarier and worse than it ended up and I'm feeling very grateful.  God is definitely watching out for Lucy especially, she is one special girl.  Lucy is on the loose!

On a lighter note, William has been LOVING t-ball this summer.  He played pitcher for a few games and got used to having every ball come to him.  If the ball didn't come to him he would run and get it (including going from outfield to second base or third to first base).  Last game he was disappointed that the ball wasn't coming to him so he wanted to sit out until it was his turn to bat! Batting is another story.  He is the shortest and youngest one out there.  I had to fib about his age 17 days as he was supposed to be five by September 1st.  William loves to "chop" down on the ball and last game he even did a full circle around himself and then threw the bat down and ran to first base.  He also likes to tag any runner passing him "out" even when he didn't have the ball in his mitt.  Instead he chose to throw the ball at the player to try and get them out when he DID have the ball.  William ran to the pitcher's mound instead of first base a couple times and wondered which teammate was bringing treats each game.

Madeline is still an angel baby.  She is now on the every four hour schedule for feeding and stays awake/sleeps every two hours.  We're on a pretty good schedule these days and she is usually content by herself or under her play mat.

We are excited for summer and trying to fit all the things in that we want to do before it's over!
